Review about the Vivo X fold 2

Review about the Vivo X fold 2. There’s no official release date yet from Vivo, but there have been a few different launch windows reported by various sites. The rough consensus seems to be around April 2023.

This would be in keeping with the previous model, the Vivo X Fold, which debuted in April 2022. One concern for western markets is that the X Fold was a China-exclusive model, meaning it didn’t get an official global launch. You could still pick it up on import, but that’s always a bit daunting and expensive.

We still don’t know if this will be the case with the Vivo X Fold 2, but we hope that this time around the company opens the product up to a wider fanbase.

What is the price of the Vivo X Fold 2?

Regarding the Vivo X Fold 2’s likely price when it releases, there are no reliable details. The pricing for the prior generation is as follows:

  • 8,999 (around $1,400/£1,100/€1,300) with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage
  • 9999 (around $1,550/£1,200/€1,450) for 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage

Since that prices are rising for everything right now, including technology, it’s feasible that these already high prices will rise considerably higher. But, it’s possible that Vivo is keeping the line moving so that customers may actually purchase the new Fold rather than cramming their faces against Shanghai storefront windows.

What features will we see in the Vivo X Fold 2?

The most prominent headline we’ve seen so far on the Vivo X Fold 2 comes from Chinese technology reporter Digital Chat Station, a source you can trust. According to his post, Vivo will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, which will be the first time this chip is used in a foldable phone. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is extremely likely to replace the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found in the Vivo X Fold.

Also, according to 91Mobiles, the processor will be accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, making it identical to the first Vivo X Fold. To preserve parity, a 12GB/512GB edition is probably also planned.

Display:

The 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED main display of the first-generation X Fold ran at 2160 x 1916 and 120 Hz, but according to Digital Talk Station, the upcoming model will have a 2K panel instead. The battery will also be improved, going from the 4,600mAh cell in the X Fold with a top charging speed of 66W to a slightly bigger 4,800mAh hour cell with a top charging speed of 120W.

Camera:

There hasn’t been much information released about the cameras we might find in the Vivo X Fold 2, but GizmoChina claims that the 50MP main camera will employ a Sony IMX866 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), which has already been found on a number of Vivo handsets. Two 12Mp ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, equipped with Sony IMX 663 sensors, are expected to be placed on either side of this.

This is a change from the original Vivo X Fold, which had a quad-camera array on the back that included a 48MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera, an 8MP, 5x periscope zoom camera, a 12MP, f/2.4 2x zoom camera, and a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera with a Samsung GN5 sensor and OIS.

The cameras were one of the best aspects of the X Fold, so we assume that the article simply overlooked the ultra-wide camera and mixed up the Telephoto and Zoom cameras. Nonetheless, we’ll be curious to find out if this is the case.

Conclusion:

It has a unique design that allows it to fold in half, making it more compact and portable than traditional smartphones. The device features a 7.8-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels, providing a large and immersive viewing experience.

Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It also has a triple-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera.

One of the standout features of the Vivo X Fold 2 is its hinge mechanism, which the company claims is more durable than those found on other foldable devices. The device also supports 5G connectivity and comes with a 4,500mAh battery that supports fast charging.

Overall, the Vivo X Fold 2 is an impressive device that showcases the potential of foldable smartphones. However, its high price point and the relative novelty of the foldable form factor may make it a niche device for early adopters and enthusiasts.
