How to tell if you’ve been blocked on Android
It’s possible that your number has been banned if your messages and calls to friends, family, or coworkers aren’t getting through. Here’s a guide on How to tell if you’ve been blocked on Android.
Of course, depending on the situation, the person who blocked you could not want to inform you that they did, or you might not be able to get in touch with them to find out. However, in other situations, someone can unintentionally bar you.
The good news is that you can determine whether someone has blocked you in either case. Here is a method for Android users to determine whether that is the case.
What happens when your number is blocked?
The first thing to understand is what really takes place when someone blocks your phone number.
If you try to contact them, you’ll probably hear one or two rings before being informed that their number is not in service. This is one hint, however, it doesn’t definitely indicate you’ve been blocked; they might simply have Do Not Disturb enabled. If, however, their phone continues to ring, they aren’t blocking you; rather, they are just not picking up for some other reason.
There isn’t a clear indication that you’re attempting to text them, which is terrible. Your message will seem to arrive just fine, but the receiver won’t actually get it.

How to check whether you’re on a person’s ‘Blocked Number’ list:
It is simple enough to verify whether you are barred from using the other person’s phone if you are friends with them and have their permission, of course.
If they also have an Android phone, they must launch the Contacts app, go to the settings menu (the location of which may vary depending on the phone they have), and choose “Blocked numbers.”
If they have an iPhone, they should go to Settings, Phone, and then “Blocked Contacts” instead.
If your phone number appears on the list, you have likely been blacklisted by the user’s device. You may make sure that your calls and messages reach their device once more by deleting them from the list.

How to check if you’ve been blocked from your own Android phone:
What if you don’t have a line of communication with the person who you think has blocked you? On Android devices, there’s an alternative workaround to tell whether your number’s been blocked:
- Open the Contacts app on your phone
- Find the contact who you think has blocked your number
- Make a copy of their contact information, or jot down their phone number and anything else.
- Tap the three dots in the top corner of the screen
- Tap ‘Delete’
- When all open applications are displayed, long-press the home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to close Contacts. Then, slide Contacts up and off the screen.
- Re-open Contacts
- Search for the deleted contact using the search bar at the top of the screen
The likelihood that they haven’t blacklisted your number increases if the contested contact—the one you just deleted—shows up as a suggested contact.
There is a strong likelihood that they have blocked you if they don’t appear.
Only if someone has banned your phone number directly on their phone does this advice hold true. Check out our guidelines on determining whether you have been blocked on WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger if you are concerned that you have been blocked on a particular platform.
