How to play YouTube in the background on iPhone
How to play YouTube in the background on iPhone. While using YouTube on your iPhone, you probably noticed a significant restriction: the music stops when you switch off the device or go back to the home screen and start another program.
Not only does being able to switch off the screen save battery life, but it also prevents inadvertent touches on the touchscreen when the phone is in your pocket from skipping to the next movie.
Since you are reading this, you are already aware that you cannot mute the screen while watching a video on the YouTube app in order to listen to music in the background.
The simple solution is to purchase YouTube Music or YouTube Premium, which will allow you to listen to music while using another app or with the screen off.
What if, though, you don’t feel like paying for yet another monthly subscription? Well, good news: these workarounds will do the same task for nothing!
How to play YouTube in the background:
Use a web browser:
You could have assumed that this workaround is no longer effective if you’ve already tried it on Safari or Google Chrome, but you’d be mistaken.
Instead, you may use Firefox or Opera. Download one of these applications then visits YouTube.
If you have the official YouTube app on your iPhone, take care not to get routed there. In that case, open Firefox or Opera and put m.youtube.com into the address bar to access the mobile site.
You may access your previously created playlists by signing into your YouTube (Google) account by pressing the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, followed by the option to Sign In.
Find something to listen to:
Tap on the video after looking for the song or any audio you wish to hear. Wait for any advertisements to end before starting the video.
Make the video full-screen:
To conceal the remainder of the web page, tap the full-screen icon (bottom-right of the video, arrowed).
Use the control center to continue playback:
Switch to a different app or go back to the home screen. To open Control Center, swipe down. To restart playback, tap the play button on the music controls.
The song should keep playing. You have two options: turn off your iPhone’s screen to conserve battery life or use another app while listening.

How to play YouTube in the background on iPhone:
Use an app:
Look for an app that can play YouTube as a picture-in-picture on the App Store (or floating window). YubePiP is one illustration; it was accessible and functional at the time this was written.
Install it, and you should be sent to the YouTube sign-in screen. It’s free, but it will hound you to upgrade to Pro. You may discover the music you want to listen to using the search option without having to sign in; simply select your cookie setting.
As said above, once you sign in, you may access your typical playlists and listen to your favorite songs.
If there are any ads, wait until they are through before tapping on the video. If you truly don’t want to support the artist, you can also skip the ads.
Now tap the icon arrow to put the video in a floating window.
You can launch any other app you like, but you can also listen with the screen off as well.

How to play YouTube:
Press the sleep/wake button to turn your iPhone off and the audio should continue to play. If it doesn’t, then press the power button again and tap the play button on the lock screen to restart the audio (you can also skip between songs in a playlist too).
Now, the audio will continue to play even after you switch off your iPhone or iPad.
If neither of these approaches works for you, you may download YouTube videos to your iPhone and watch them using your favourite app for watching videos; the majority of these apps allow you to have background audio playing while you watch. If you utilize Documents by Readdle, then yes, it does.
